How each mode works
Percentage of a number
Multiply the number by the percentage divided by 100. For example, 15% of 240 = (15 ÷ 100) × 240 = 36.
What percentage one value is of another
Divide the value by the total and multiply by 100. For example, 45 ÷ 180 × 100 = 25%.
Percentage increase or decrease
Subtract the original from the new value, divide by the original, and multiply by 100. For example, from 50 to 65: (65 − 50) ÷ 50 × 100 = 30% increase. A negative result is a decrease.
